Fleet Management Solutions
Most conventional thinking on fleet management is about the efficiency of the assets themselves. But fleet management is merely a path toward optimization of the entire logistics system. Forward thinking companies are designing and applying more extensive solutions today. How can your fleet management solution implement more than just a system generate more value?

Paperless Management Solutions
Data is ubiquitous today, and employees are more empowered than ever before to act on the information available to them. The Elusive Information Highway
Shippers' access to global sources has expanded exponentially in recent years. The Internet and phone have made it much easier to source globally, and some major retailers have used the information to bypass traditional distributors and squeeze some of the profit out of their supply chain. How is the global transportation system affected by the liberalization of economic policies and reduction of tariffs around the world? This article discusses the rapidly changing advantages in the transportation industry.

RFID

RFID In Offshore Drilling
One of the emerging sweet spots is asset management where the cost of error and subsequent redeployment is very high, and the tagging of drill pipe at Petrobras is a good example.  Offshore oil rigs are a good testing ground for managing inventory of high-value assets in remote environments, controlling remote devices (intelligent automation), and for tracking in mission-critical and safety-critical environments.

RFID Comes of Age
RFID has generated both passion and skepticism. By many accounts, it will be one of the few technologies that really affects us all. RFID and Better Baggage Handling
"Wait and see" has been the dominant position of most airlines and airport service companies in the last few years regarding RFID. Only 10% have RFID in place so far, and 42% say they have no plans to implement RFID, according the 2007 Airport ID Trends Survey. Sure, fourteen percent say they will implement it in the next 1-2 years and nineteen percent say they will implement it in the next 3-4 years. But most are like Easyjet, which is waiting to see how the market shakes out, and British Airways, which said as late as June that it was waiting for IATA to define standards. This article provides specific updates on which airports, airlines, and solution providers are implementing RFID solutions, and with what success.

RFID Applications in Ground Handling

RFID Applications in Ground Handling
Anti-terrorism, customer service, and asset utilization are driving RFID adoption in the airline and baggage handling industries. IATA's new technical standard should clear the way for implementation at large airlines and airports. This presentation will examine the various types of deployment in ground handling.

RFID: Mining Mega-Data for Enhanced Forecast Accuracy

RFID: Mining Mega-Data for Enhanced Forecast Accuracy
RFID can reduce forecast error by reducing the need to forecast at all!
